Ethiopian Coffee Grades Explained
Grade 1 (G1): Specialty, <5 defects, pristine, complex floral/citrus/berry flavors, bright acidity, balanced body (Washed & Natural).
Grade 2 (G2): Specialty, 5-12 defects, excellent flavor, lower cost than G1 (Washed & Natural).
Grade 3 (G3): Medium quality, 13-25 defects, good but less intense flavors, only natural processed, can hit 85+ cup points.
Grade 4 (G4): 26-46 defects, earthy/fruity/chocolaty notes, can cup 80+ points.
Grade 5 (G5): Lowest grade, 47-86 defects, less desirable flavors.
